The
Adobe Illustrator CS4 (ACE) Course is designed to help students prepare for the Adobe Certified Expert Illustrator CS4 examination. All course materials are officially endorsed by Adobe.
The home study courses consist of Officially endorsed ACE Courses books, accompanying CD Rom�s containing exercise files and online CertBlaster Exam Preparation Software.
Please Note: The home study courses are not compatible with Apple Mac Computers.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 Basics Course Book:This course book covers the fundamentals of Illustrator CS4, which is used primarily to work with vector-based graphics.
After getting familiar with the Illustrator CS4 environment, students will learn how to create a simple illustration by creating and manipulating shapes and by drawing and editing paths. Students will also learn how to apply color, gradients, and transparency. They will then learn how to work with text and layers.

- Unit 3: Applying Basic Color

The following topics are covered: Raster images; Basic drawing; and Select and edit paths.
- Unit 5: Working with Text
The following topics are covered: Adding text; and Altering text.
The following topics are covered: Layers; and Manipulate layers.
- Unit 7: Working with Fills & Colors
The following topics are covered: Swatch libraries; Gradients; and Transparency.
- Unit 8: Adjusting Typography
The following topics are covered: Flow type; Format text; Edit text; and ACE Exam Objectives.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 Advanced Course Book:Students will learn the more advanced techniques for working with paths, masks, fills, and strokes. Students will also learn how to use transformation tools, envelopes, filters, effects, and graphic styles. In addition, students will learn how to convert raster images to vector art and how to manage color settings, color separations, and print specifications. Finally, students will learn how to work with slices and how to optimize and export images for the Web.

The following topics are covered: Effects; and Graphic styles.
- Unit 5: Converting Raster Images to Vector Art
The following topics are covered: Trace raster images; and Live Paint.
- Unit 6: Printing Illustrations
The following topics are covered: Color management; Print specifications; and Color separations.
- Unit 7: Web Files & Graphs
The following topics are covered: Slices; Web graphics; Graphs; and ACE Exam Objectives.
Pre-Requirements:There are no particular entry requirements as the home study courses are set out for beginners although students
will require their own version of Adobe Illustrator CS4 to complete the course.
Course Duration & Support:Students may register at any time. The home study courses are designed as self-study courses but if you have any problems you can email our email support. As the home study courses are self study you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer, and we do not impose a cut-off date for study.
Assessment:Assessment is in the form an Adobe Certified Expert Examination. Examinations are in a multiple choice/multiple answer format and are 90 minutes in length each.
Qualification: On Completion of Course, you can apply for your
internationally recognised Adobe Illustrator CS4 9A0-088 Examination. Examinations must be sat at a registered Pearson VUE testing centre and are currently �104.00 + VAT each. You can locate testing centres and schedule appointments on their Website: Pearson Vue Website.
