Digital Photography - Level 3 Course has been written to provide you the student with a sound understanding of how a camera works and the background to camera care.
The home study courses are for people who love to take pictures, but want to gain an understanding of the mechanics of photography.
The good thing about the home study courses are that they are for all ages and all ability levels.
It is a thorough "everything you need to know" course with lots of tips and information which other books, courses etc. won't tell you - secrets from the insider who has written the home study courses.
If you're brand new to photography or picking up a camera after years of not using one, this is the course for you.
The home study courses are ideal for students who are looking for a new hobby, thinking of a new career in photography or even if you just want to understand how to take great photographs for your next family party!

PLEASE NOTE: You will require a good quality digital camera for completing this course.The home study courses cover the following Units:This Unit includes the following topics: History of Photography; Equipment and accessories; Light; Exposure; and The Photographic process.
- Unit Two � Extending SKills & Knowledge
This Unit includes the following topics: Composition, viewpoint and framing; Digital cameras; Data storage and transfer; Printing; Scanning; and Digital image editing & Photoshop.
- Unit Three � Photography in Practice
This Unit includes the following topics: Specialist area � Portraiture; Specialist area � Landscape; Other specialist areas; Extending the single image; and Section summary.
- Unit Four � Advanced Techniques
This Unit includes the following topics: Further Photoshop; Digital Restoration; Careers and opportunities; and Final Project Submission assignment.
Pre-Requirements:
There are no particular entry requirements.
Course Duration & Support:
Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. You also have access to a personal tutor by mail or email for a 12 month period. As the home study courses are self study you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer.
Assessment:
You will be assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. There are 12 assignments in the course (a mix of written and practical). There are also over 20 self-assignments which really add value to the course by allowing the student to build their knowledge about significant areas of photography in a fun and challenging way. Your work can be sent back to your course tutor by email or by post.
Qualification:
The award is gained from your successfully completed coursework so there is no exam to complete.
On successful completion of the home study courses students will be awarded a Level 3 Digital Photography Award.
This award has been independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and is comparable to working at A Level or NVQ Level 3.
The award is issued through NCFE. NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
