Technical Authoring - comprehensive training programme

This training course is designed for beginners who are aiming to begin working as a professional Technical Author.

The Comprehensive Technical Authoring training program is comprised of the following modules:

Day 1: Introduction to technical authoring

• Analysing your audience.
• Structuring and designing your documents.
• Writing using plain English.
• Avoiding standard errors in punctuation and grammar.
• Designing an effective layout for your documents.
• Reviewing and proof reading documents to improve quality.

Days 2 and 3: Intermediate technical authoring

• The Prewriting step.
• Creating effective content and structure.
• Clarity in technical writing.
• Consistency and correctness.
• Building readability.

Days 4 and 5: Advanced technical authoring

• Copy editing and proof reading.
• Business and design standards for technical documentation.
• Checking document integrity.
• Graphics.
• Grammar issues.
• Editing and writing with others.

Scheduled Comprehensive Technical Authoring training programme is hosted in Bromsgrove in the Midlands.

On-demand Comprehensive Technical Authoring training programme (for your group) can be run on a date and at a location that suits you, which may be our training centre in Bromsgrove or your venue anywhere in the UK.

Delegates receive courseware and exercise materials to refer to throughout the course, and to use as a refresher following the course.

Delegates also receive:

• Checklists and job aids to focus each stage of the writing process.
• Report and user manual templates that incorporate best practice design and structure as taught in the courses.
• A CD containing course materials for use back in the workplace.
• A certificate confirming that they have attended and successfully completed the course.
