Introduction to Adobe InDesign provides the essential knowledge you need to understand and use the powerful capabilities of InDesign. The course provides a thorough grounding in page layout skills, teaching how produce professional-standard pages quickly and output them reliably.
The mode of delivery combines lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice. Class numbers are small (maximum 8 delegates), providing ample opportunity to discuss your specific requirements with the trainer.
This is an Adobe-accredited course. The trainer for this course is an Adobe Certified Instructor (ACI), and an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) in InDesign.

Introduction to Adobe InDesign training is suitable for newcomers to InDesign, novice users with a small amount of InDesign experience, and people who have used other similar tools in the past, such as QuarkXpress. It is suitable for Windows and Mac users alike. There are no prerequisites.
Introduction to Adobe InDesign training covers the following topics:
What InDesign can do, the work area, toolbox and palettes, opening files and navigation techniques, saving and closing files, file export and snippets.
Creating new documents and setting up guides, grids and master pages
Drawing and editing shapes and frames, filling objects with colour and gradients, stroking shapes and transforming objects.
Creating text frames, entering text and special characters, importing (placing) text from other sources, using the Story editor, text frame options, using Find/Change, the Spell checker and using autocorrect.
Using the character and paragraph palettes to format text. Using drop caps and optical margin alignment.
Defining character, paragraph and object styles, nested styles, removing styles from text, assigning keyboard shortcuts, importing and deleting styles.
Adding images, modifying graphic frames and their contents, creating in-line frames, wrapping text around objects and managing links.
Using layers to group and separate objects, using the layers palette to create, move, copy, merge and delete layers.
Creating and handling transparency, feathering, drop shadows, corner effects, using the Pen tool, creating compound paths and text outlines.
Creating tables and adding content, formatting and editing tables, breaking tables across frames, adding strokes and fills.
Working with an object library, changing the library display, cataloging objects.
Using the preflight command and options to check the integrity of a document, using the package command and the print menu.
Scheduled Introduction to InDesign courses are hosted in Bromsgrove in the Midlands.

Scheduled Introduction to Adobe InDesign courses are currently based on InDesign CS5.5.
On-demand InDesign training courses can be based on any recent version, including InDesign CS5.5.
Delegates receive courseware and a certificate confirming they have attended and successfully completed Introduction to Adobe InDesign training.
