Global Knowledge -Introduction to the Junos Operating System training course

This one day intensive Juniper training course "CS1K Rls 7.5 - Support Specialist Bootcamp"primarily aims to take students with basic knowledge of IP networking and Telephony through the Installation and Commissioning phases of a CS1000 System implementation.

The course will cover installation and configuration of a Standard Availability system as well as a CoRes system. It will also cover the configuration of common features on the system as well as Routes, Trunks and associated dial plans to enable calls to external systems. Students will also configure a Survivable Media Gateway and test its redundant mode.

Key areas covered in the course: Architecture Overview, Linux Installation & Security Configuration, Application Deployment, Accessing the Overlays & basic system configuration, UCM, Element Manager, Telephone administration, Routing & Dial plans

On completion of this CS1K Rls 7.5 - Support Specialist Bootcamp (Avaya)training course delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the primary components of a CS1K system and outline their functionality
  • Install the Linux Base software
  • Configure the UCM security settings
  • Deploy Applications and Linux to servers from deployment manager.
  • Install a VXWorks call server
  • Access the Call Server Overlays (Linux & VxWorks) and configure basic parameters
  • Create the IP telephony Node and Media Gateways
  • Configure Phone Sets via the CLI and Element Manager
  • Configure IP Virtual Trunks & PRI links
  • Understand and create basic routes and dialling plans
  • Discuss the options for redundancy in a CS1000 configuration
  • Configure a Survivable Media Gateway to a CS1000 Main Office
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks e.g. Backup UCM & Call server , change IP set firmware.
  • Create subscribers and sets using Subscriber Manager
  • Upgrade a Release 6 system to Release 7.5

Suitability and application

This CS1K Rls 7.5 - Support Specialist Bootcamp (Avaya) training course is suitable for those with little or no experience of Communications Server 1000 who will be involved in Installation, Maintenance or complex administration of a CS1000 Release 7.5 system. The course content will also cover the areas relevant to the Avaya certification.

Pre-requisites: Students attending the course should have a basic understanding of IP networking and Digital telephony. Students may also wish to take the 0365 VoIP Fundamentals in preparation for the course and the 0200 CS1000 Familiarisation course.

  • System Rebuild Exercise (CoRes Call Server)

Students will build the systems from scratch at least twice during the course to ensure they are familiar with the procedures. In addition they will configure sets to suit various criteria to ensure their confidence in this area.

The course will require the use of Rack B for the duration of the course.

  • Week 1 CPPM card configured as Standard Availability Call Server (VxWorks)
  • Week 2 CPPM card configures as CoRes Call Server (Linux).

  • Avaya Communication Server 1000 Avaya Aura® Implementation Exam – 7003.1
  • This forms part of the Product Authorisation Implement: Avaya Communication Server 1000 for Avaya Aura™ (PA - 7003).
